Top Smartphone Brands: The answer to the question regarding India’s top smartphone brands was something else till a few months ago, and now it is something else. Research firm Canalys has named the number one smartphone brand in India in its fourth quarter 2022 report. The name of Samsung has risen to the top. Surprisingly, Samsung has topped the list for the first time since the third quarter of 2017. From 2017 to 2022, that’s a really long time. According to Canalys, Samsung retains the top position in the third quarter of 2022, which is between October-December.
This brand is number two
South Korean smartphone brand Samsung reportedly sold 6.7 million units for 21% of the market. Samsung is followed by Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, Realme and then other smartphones in this list. Chinese smartphone brand Vivo, which is number two, sold 6.4 million units between October and December. Reports suggest that Vivo has sold numerous such units mainly through offline stores.
Xiaomi and Oppo have sold so many units
The report also states that Xiaomi has lost its top spot, which is very bad for the brand. According to Canalys, Xiaomi sold 5.5 million units in the fourth quarter of 2022. Next, Oppo and Realme in the list sold 5.7 million and 2.7 million units respectively. The report also revealed that India’s phone shipments are expected to fall to 15.6 million units in 2022, a 6 percent decline from last year. According to the report, “India weathered the global slowdown better than the rest of the market, but domestic consumer spending declined in the last few months of 2022. Even during the festive season, transactions in the domestic market saw declines in retail spending and electronic imports.
